Just call me Scooter

Kiera has become the master of scooting. She uses her little upper body to pull the rest of her body along the floor to get what she wants. Lately she has been tucking her legs up under her body trying to crawl but she just ends up rocking back and forth like rainman. Definately, definately, definately crawling....
Here is a video of her scooting/crawling from last weekend when we visited her Uncle Edwin, Aunt Chrissy and cousin Tory. She gets a bit distracted during the scoot because Tory is a new and interesting character. It was fun to see them interact!

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Well, there it is. I am officially in my thirties! It was a fantastic birthday - I got items that I have had my eye on for years and Paul and Kiera took me out to dinner.
My sister got me a Panini Press - I think that I have had a panini sandwich every day since then. (She also gave me a card with a slight reminder that I am now 30) My mom got me the cricut - a scrapbooking cutting machine, which will allow me to make a BUNCH of cut outs, letters, words, etc. Paul got me the "Brisingr" book which I have been waiting two years to read. And Paul's parents and grandparents got me money so I went out an got some more scrapbooking stuff. It was a great way to ring in my 30th birthday!
And to top it all off, Amy & Bryce told me that they were going to give us their couches! Now my living room actually looks like a living room - as you can see below. Kiera especially loves them!

White men can't jump....but they never said anything about babies!

Upon our return from Florida, Kiera's amount of toys quadrupled! But there is one that she particularly loves - her bouncer (thank you Jim & Cathy G). The moment we placed her in it, she was in heaven! At first she didn't quite get the potential of being in that chair but she loved the fact that she was in a new position and got to stand "without any help" and basically pivot on one foot. (the first video) But then one day we placed her in that chair and it just clicked. She could not get enough of the jumping. The second video is a snipit of her jumping that lasted about 45 minutes. She slept VERY well that night!

Kiera's four month checkup

She is growing up so fast! We had Kiera's four month check up last week and she is pretty much on schedule. She now weighs 13lbs 9 oz and is 24 inches long. Unfortunately, she had to get caught up on all her shots, which she is NOT very fond of and to be honest with you I don't particularly like them either. It was a pitiful sight - Kiera and I crying holding each other.....oh well, it is best in the long run for her.
Here are some updated photos of our little one. Enjoy!

The Amazing Kiera

Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound...okay maybe not that amazing but she is quite the little powerhouse. Last week she decided that she was going to tackle some biggies - she is really starting to get strong enough to sit on her own but is easily distracted and she is starting to scoot her way around. Which is great but in the same breath, not. Now I really can't turn my back on her! She has also started to laugh but we just can't seem to capture that on video. Once we do, we will get that baby on here as well! Enjoy the videos of my baby girl becoming too big for her britches!

The Evolution of Kiera

Kiera is almost 4 months old and she has changed SO much. From her smile to her bath time to how she swings to nap time....etc! Take a look at how Kiera is growin' up!

Proud Auntie

Kiera's Auntie Amy just loves her! So much so that she was willing to fly all the way from Seattle to Williamsburg just to see the little squirt. She spent every moment either holding Kiera or asking if she could hold Kiera. I am sure that Kiera will be spending most of her babysitting times at her Auntie's house.

The second to last picture is what I tried to convince Amy Kiera needed - a one carat diamond toe ring. Its what every 3 month old needs right? And the last picture is of an outfit Auntie Amy got Kiera. It says "pint size". How cute is that?

Kiera's turnin' over a new leaf

So, I had this great idea that I would do a video compilation of all the times that Kiera tried to roll over leading to her triumphant roll. Well, things didn't go quite as I planned. I took about a half an hour picking out just the right videos, figuring out what areas I would use and what do you know...my camera shoots video in .mov format and the movie editor edits ALL video BUT .mov format...After about an hour of trying to make it work, downloading "patches" to make it work (which btw, did quite the opposite((more work!))) I GIVE UP! Here is the final video of her rolling over.

She decided that yesterday, Friday the 1st was the day that she was going to prove that she was a growing girl and not to underestimated. The great thing is that she gets to share her day of victory with her cousin, Kennedi. She rolled over yesterday as well! Congrats to both the beautiful babies!

Enjoy the peek of Kiera's glorious roll!

Life of a 3 month old

Kiera is full of energy and needs to be doing something non-stop. She is not big on naps so we have a packed day! The pictures show a few of her daily activities. (Today Kiera saw her very first movie in the movie theatre - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! She did very well and was either napping or watchin' the movie with us!)

Kiera enjoys tummy time and likes to kick her feet. She may be off and crawling before we know it...

She enjoys standing up on my tummy and wants to lean in for a kiss.

Daddy loves to read to Kiera to help her start her love of reading.

She loves to stand as you saw from my last blog. If it wasn't for her newbie legs I am sure that she would be standing all by herself!

With all that work we always need to take to pamper ourselves so we decided to paint our toenails. Girl time!

"Sitting is for babies....I wanna stand!"

Kiera has been doing this for about the past 3 weeks but we just finally got this on video a couple of nights ago. She loves standing up and doesn't really like laying down or sitting very much anymore - she is wanting to grow up WAY to fast!
