Poor man's zoo & aquarium

Paul and I wanted to take Kiera to the Aquarium here in Seattle, one of the many places to hit before we leave the west coast. Unfortunately, when we looked online for the times that aquarium was open we also found out that it was a WHOPPING 16 bucks a person! So, instead of going to the aquarium built for the rich and famous we hopped in the car, drove down to the local mall and went to Petco. It was MUCH cheaper - free! We dubbed it the poor man's aquarium but Kiera didn't seem to care either way. She had a great time checking out all the fishies, birds, rats, mice and hamsters.
I think that we will hit the actual aquarium when we have a two for one coupon...or someone else decides they want to take us to the aquarium, their treat! :)

Eat It, Baby, Eat It

It is never a dull moment at the dinner table with Kiera. In previous sessions, she would kick her feet to the point that her socks fell off, she would squeal before each bite, freakout when the food ran out or she couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough, and now she needs to be rooted on....Her favorite chant: "Eat it, Baby, Eat It!"

Daddy's Turn

So, Paul decided that it was time for him to contribute to the dressing of Kiera. Below is what happened.....too cute.

Gymboree

Kiera has started her first class! We enrolled her in "Gymboree", which according to their website offers: "sensory stimulation to problem-solving games and storytelling, our classes use play-based activities to stretch the body and mind. And we quite enjoy it because including the class time once a week they offer "open gym" time where we can go for up to 4 hours a day and let Kiera play on the ever changing playground setup. She loves it. It is fun to see how she has really started to come out of her shell - she wants to play with ALL the kids - and she really seems to be growing physically and mentally! Here are some cute photos of one of the open gyms both Paul and I were able attend with Kiera.

Kiera gone punk????

So, we started to notice that Kiera's hair is growing in - in a very different way. She is a pretty bald baby except for a line of hair that starts at the base of her scalp all the way up to the top of her head. It is easier to see when her hair is wet so we decided that we would show off her unique hairstyle. I wonder...should we die it hot pink to fit the style???

Kiera: Driver

Kiera loves hanging out with her Auntie...she gets to do all the things that she wouldn't normally do with mommy or daddy - like drive a car. Okay, not really, but doesn't she look SO cute behind the wheel!

Our Garage Sale

We are right in the middle of packing up all our stuff for our two upcoming moves - first to Paul's auntie for the 3 remaining months in Seattle, and then to DC in June. So, to make our move easier we have decided to unload, garage sale, craigslist or Goodwill any "unnecessary" items. Here are some pictures of our garage sale we just had on Saturday. The first pictures are of Kiera and her auntie maxin' relaxin' in the camping chair - what you don't see is that she is being fed gerber graduates as she sits there....she was in heaven - those things are like candy to her.
When the garage sale slowed down, we tried to entertain ourselves by having Kiera walk up our stairs, dance around and do tricks on Paul's motorcycle.
The photos at the end are bonus photos/videos! The first are of Kiera reading her book and then of her playing with her new tonka truck...she loves pushing that thing around everywhere picking up toys as she goes along. And the last video is the best of them all - Kiera is not much of a giggler she usually shows her joy through squeels or a big silent open mouth. This is the first time I have been able to capture her illusive giggle - enjoy!

Rollin'

Kiera has really taken to walking everywhere she goes now - it is SO cute to see such a little body with such little legs walking around!

Come and get it....

So, we are not really sure what spurred on this unique dinner conversation but she was just being so silly how could we not capture it. It started out as her saying "hey" with her tongue out like that old beer commercial "whaats up!?!?" - unfortunately we didn't capture that though we did try to get her to do it again - hense, our "heys". I guess you could say our dinners are a good mixture of eatin' and playin'.

Here are some videos of Kiera practicing her walking from last Sunday. She is pretty much walking on her own now and will walk without any coercion or help from any of us! It is GREAT to see her progress so well.
